Sunday Times Festival of Education 2011

EducationThe Sunday Times and Wellington College are launching a brand new festival for those interested in education this summer. ‘The Sunday Times Festival of Education’ is planning to bring together some of the most influential and controversial figures in education to discuss the recent raft of changes to, and the future direction of the UK’s education system.

Hosted by Wellington College in Berkshire, nearly 150 speakers will be debating the educational issues of the day. The programme plans to feature current issues in education, such as free schools, league tables, pupil behaviour, internships, brain science, quality of teaching, tuition fees, happiness and well-being in schools, and how to make our schools even better.

Former government ministers, scientists and head teachers to academics, journalists and chief executives form a list of speakers - including Bob Geldof, Robert Winston and David Starkey.

This new forum could provide a great opportunity for people interested in education to gather together to listen to and exchange views with politicians, educationalists, school leaders, think tank experts and media personalities on the topics that they care about.
