International school launches education thinktank

education_young_childAn international school has announced the establishment of a new education thinktank, which aims to foster collaborative educational and technological research projects to develop understanding and innovation within the education sector.

The ACS Centre for Inspiring Minds (CIM) will span all four ACS International Schools, ACS Cobham, ACS Egham, ACS Hillingdon and ACS Doha. Its offices will be located within ACS's head office, on the Cobham campus.

The centre has been founded as a result of a goal set by the ACS board to establish an educational research centre to champion key developments within the schools’ educational offering, particularly international education.

Latifa Hassanali, former IT project manager at ACS International Schools, has been appointed CIM programme manager. She will act as internal consultant to support the collaborative research initiatives taking place at the schools, as well as working to develop the CIM into an internationally recognised centre for innovative teaching and learning.

Says Ms Hassanali, “The CIM is something that we have been looking to develop at ACS International Schools for a while now, to allow us to conduct and utilise research for the benefit of our education offering and curriculum development.

“We will be working with our teaching community to ascertain where our initial research concentration should be, and hope to be able to share the results of our projects not only with our own teaching community, but also with the wider education community.”
